Being a queen is beyond beauty; if not, Vashti would have remained one.
Obviously, there is something more important than beauty in being a queen for if beauty had been the most important qualification for the throne, Vashti wouldn’t have been sent packing.
The Obscure will always be greater than the Obvious.
The outward beauty of Queen Vashti was visible to everybody, everyone knew she was lovely to behold but due to the absence of the invisible inward beauty of submissiveness she was rusticated from royalty. What makes the visible valuable is the invisible, what gives relevance and meaning to the seen is the unseen, when the unseen beauty of good character is not in place, man will lose his place irrespective of his visible beauty of charisma.
What Charm, Curves and Charisma cannot keep, Character will gain.
Hegai, the eunuch in charge of finding the king a Queen knew that what the king needed was not just beauty, if it’s beauty, Vashti had more than enough, THE KING NEEDS CHARACTER, every other contender for the throne was busy getting beautiful, beauty was their priority but when Hegai saw Esther – a women of character, he got attracted to her cos that’s what he has been asked to look for. Come to think of it, if the king lost her first lady because of her pride, what do you think he would have told Hegai to look for in the new Queen? – humility, of course. THERE ARE WATCHERS ASSIGNED BY GOD TO LOOK THROUGH THE EARTH FOR MEN OF CHARACTER AND INTEGRITY WHO WOULD BE FIT FOR GREATNESS, BE INFORMED.
The Obscure is more Visible than the Obvious.
Character is so visible that it attracts the favor of men that matters, BEAUTY ATTRACTS COMPLIMENTS BUT CHARACTER ATTRACTS FAVOR. The character of Esther was more visible to Hegai and to the king than the beauty of the other maidens, THE SIGHT OF SOUND CHARACTER MAKES THE BEST OF BEAUTY SECONDARY. NO MATTER HOW LOUD THE NOISE OF CHARM, IT CANNOT DROWN THE VOICE OF CHARACTER. BEAUTY MAY BE VERY LOUD, BUT TO THE EARS OF THE INFLUENTIAL, THE SILENCE OF CHARACTER IS MORE AUDIBLE.
The invisible part of our life is what qualifies us for greatness,
AS LONG AS OUR OUTWARD IS MORE BETTER THAN OUR INWARD, WE WILL ALWAYS BE BACKWARD AND AS FAR AS OUR COMPOUND IS MORE COLORFUL THAN OUR CLOSET WE WILL NEVER BE CHOSEN FOR GREATNESS.
Culled from Esther 1:11 and 2:15-20.
